Saturday Jan. 16 2010 Alan played his first official Basketball game since Jan. of 04. He was a little nervous about playing because he is a little out of shape. In the end he did great, our ward won and Alan scored 12 points. The kids and I had a great time watching him. I have fond memories of watching my dad play church ball when I was a kid and I'm happy that Alan and I can pass that on to our kids.

Celebrate!
Samantha had a great time on her birthday. We invited the Wilson's over for pizza and cupcakes. Sammy loved her cupcake and asked for more when she was done with her first one. You can see by the video that she got really scared when every one started singing to her. We played some board games, rock band and of course Foosball.

Sleeping habits
For a little over a week now I have been forced to let Samantha cry her self to sleep :(. At the beginning of last week, for two days in a row I would nurse her, she would fall asleep like always, but as soon as I put her in the crib she would wake up. I would then spend the next 1/2 hour rocking her till she fell back too sleep and I was able to lay her down, so by the end of it all I would spend a total of an hour putting Sammy to bed. By the third night I was kind of annoyed. That night she wouldn't even fall a sleep, after nursing on both sides. I could tell she was tired, but she just wouldn't go to sleep.
I guess it was time, if she wouldn't go to bed like she use to, by just nursing, I was going to have to let her cry. I felt so terrible when I left the room and heard her start to sob. I held off on doing it till now because from the very beginning she was alot better sleepier then Luke ever was and she is such a happy baby that I couldn't bare to have her cry.
At 9 months Luke was still waking up 4 times a night to eat. That was partly because he was so skinning that he didn't have the body fat to sustain him all through the night. We did eventually have him cry him self to sleep and the first night it took him 2 hours to finally go down, unlike Samantha.
I laid her down, told her I loved her and left. I was ready for a long night, but not even 2 min. after I had gone downstairs she had stopped crying. I couldn't believe it. When I went up to check not a peep was coming from her room. At first I was worried. In her fit did she stubble and bump her head, did she stop breathing. I told my self she was fine and waited a little longer before going in. She was fine, she had mushed her self all the way at the end of the crib closest to the door and had fallen a sleep.
This is how its been for a little over a week, but now she barely cries, its a big cry, but less then a min. and not only that, but she sleeps through the night now. She takes an afternoon nap and then goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps to 7:30 the next morning. Some days I can even put her down for a nap while she is still a wake and she will go to bed after a minute of crying. We are thrilled to get more sleep and she is still my smileys all though the day even though I maker her cry at night.

Awkward years
I volunteered to help chaperon at our youths multi stake new years eve dance on Dec. 30. Well I don't know if volunteer would be the correct word no one else would, so the president and I split the night up. I took the later shift because I needed to put Samantha down for the night before I could go.
I forgot to ask what the dress attire was and I couldn't find the answer in any of the e-mails I had gotten or the fliers that were handed out. All the stake dances I had gone to growing up were all casual, so that's how I dressed, big mistake. I felt so out of place.
I didn't know any of the other leaders from the other wards. I thought I would be saved by the YM leader from my ward that was suppose to be their, but they totally bailed on me. I stood in the corner all by my self the entire time I was there. I couldn't even find my girls in the crowd. I felt so much like an awkward teenager that didn't know were they fitted in. On top of all that I still look like I could be one of the youth and kids kept walk by me and giving me weird looks. After about 45 min. I couldn't stand it any more, so I left. I don't feel too bad because there was way too many adults there for the amount of kids that were there.

Them Texans love them some fireworks
Our family had a quite New Years eve just playing games and watching movies. I didn't really feel like staying up so we went to bed at our normal time which is 10 and were rudely woken up at midnight by a bombardment of fireworks. I guess after about 2 years of not being able to shoot fireworks off every one and their dog went to town, in and around a neighborhood, and bought all the fireworks they could possibly find. Don't get me wrong I like fireworks, but after about 10 mins of non stop fireworks at midnight I was ready to go back to bed. They went on for about a hour. It was a very beautiful sight from our bedroom windows and unlike in Idaho areal fireworks, the ones that shoot up in the air are legal here so it was neat to see those. The videos are of the tale end of the show so its not as loud as it was when they first were going off.

She's a walking
Samantha is a Walker! Before leaving for Colorado springs Samantha had taken one or two steps, but once we got to Colorado and she saw her cousin Davey walking, who is about 4 months older then her, I think it clicked in her head, oh that's what I'm suppose to being doing and she hasn't stopped since. I don't know if am exactly thrilled about that, one more kid I have to chase, one more kid that can get into everything, but more importantly the end of Sammy being my little baby. All I know is she is very thrilled that she can walk now.
